Located in the heart of Historic Jonestown Village on the east bank of the Jones Falls, Exeter Gardens is part of Albemarle Square, the HOPE VI mixed income neighborhood built in 2004 to replace the notoriously dangerous Flaghouse Courts public housing projects adjacent to Little Italy.

In this dynamic “new” neighborhood, young professionals and empty nesters have joined a broad cross-section of residents, local merchants, city officials, and established institutions in rebuilding a community around the Lombard Street eateries and grocers on historic “Corn Beef Row.” The Jewish Museum of Maryland, the Helping Up Mission, Saint Vincent de Paul Church, The Flag House Museum, the 1840s Inn, the Carroll Museum, the Lewis Museum, the Fairfield Inn, Attman’s and Weiss’ delis, and the Asian Harbor Restaurant are just some of institutional and commercial anchors of a promising future for Albemarle Square.
